Pieces of Eight Show — Dec. 2017

During December, the MAA will present the third annual Pieces of Eight. This fundraiser exhibit is in keeping with the MAA’s long-standing history of offering small works called Hooper’s Treasures. For the third year in a row, the MAA is offering small works at affordable pricing. The works are hung in the Parlor gallery using a grid format which creates a visual impact of a larger art installation. All paintings and multi media are priced at $100 and all photographs are priced at $50. Many well known local MAA artists participate by offering several pieces. They make great gifts for art lovers and fellow artists alike. Although this is a fundraiser for the MAA, the artists will retain their usual commission. The MAA portion of the proceeds will go to support the exhibits, programming and operations of the Marblehead Arts Association.

I have two entries in the Pieces of Eight show: The Swing, an 8″ x 8″ acrylic on canvas showing a stylized autumn tree with a swing against a mottled gray background; and Buffet, an 8″ x 8″ acrylic on canvas showing a bare winter tree against a gray background — every branch holds a colorful bird waiting for a turn at the bird feeder hanging from the tree.
