Untold Stories 8/31 – 11/4/18

Salem Arts Assoc. 12th Annual PEM Inspirational Exhibition, “Untold Stories,”

August 31 through November 4, 2018

Opening Reception: Friday August 31 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM

Salem Art Association presents “Untold Stories” an exhibition inspired by two current Peabody Essex Museum exhibitions, “The Last Empresses of China: The Forbidden City’s Untold Story” and “Sally Mann: A Thousand Crossings.” Local artists present their untold stories, hidden relationships and familiar connections. The guest juror is Gordon Wilkins, Assistant Curator for Exhibitions and Research at the Peabody Essex Museum.

My juried entry for this show is “Neighbors” — a diptych done in acrylic paint, two 4″ x 12″ gallery wrapped canvases that are meant to be hung side by side. The painting was inspired by all the local three deckers where different Untold Stories are going on at every level. I love walking down the streets and noticing all the different details, different tastes, different interests that are apparent. Our differences are what makes life interesting.

The Salem Arts Assoc. Gallery is located at 211 Bridge St., Salem, MA. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 6:00 p.m.
