Grace Chapel Art Gallery has challenged artists to create paintings inspired by the theme, Home — a perfect holiday theme. The show will be on display from November 17, 2018 until January 2, 2019 at the gallery at 59 Worthen Road, Lexington, MA.
I was delighted to have had two pieces accepted into this juried show. ‘Children’s Barn’ is a 30″ x 40″ cut paper depiction of the barn at Endicott Farm in Danvers, MA. I spent a lovely afternoon there with an artist friend painting views of the children and animals at the barn. When I got home, I was inspired by the homey colors and theme to make my painting into a patchwork paper quilt.
My second entry is ‘Little Teapot’, another cut paper piece, 14″ x 14″. A nice cuppa and good conversation are among my strongest memories of home growing up. I still like to make a hot pot of tea for any reason; perfect to warm cold hands, cheer myself up, or share with a friend.
