Creative people have always inspired each other with their work. The visual arts, music, dance, the written word and more all make our world a more beautiful place. The Salem Art Association challenged its members to create artwork that illustrates the idea that All the Arts Are Sisters.
My piece in the show is called High Strung, acrylic, 12″ x 36″. It is a painting of my own banjo. I was inspired by the simple graphic look of a banjo: a white circle for the body, a long black rectangle for the neck. I placed the banjo diagonally on the long canvas and painted a dappled background of bright reds and yellows to contrast with and complement the banjo.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. It will feature food plus music and surprise performances. As always, it is free and open to the public.
