On July 23, 2017, the USS Constitution, fondly called Old Ironsides, was returned to the waters of Boston after 2 years of restoration. I was invited by the National Park Service to demonstrate the art of figurehead painting for the attendees.
In addition to my display, there were many other nautical demonstrations and performances. These included a knot tying tent, choruses singing sea chanteys, a group of people in historic costumes camping at the shipyard, and many other events. It was a jolly time, packed with people interested in history and in enjoying a lovely evening.
