New England Open Regional Exhibit: Variations IV, 2018

February 10 – March 11

Variations…. it’s what keeps outlooks fresh and interesting. For over 94 years the Marblehead Arts Association has opened its galleries to the works of artists from throughout the New England region. This exhibit welcomes both MAA artist members and non member artists to show their work.

My entry is a 36″ x 48″ watercolor, Mighty Redwood Morn. It was inspired by a trip to Muir Woods in California. Being in those woods feels like visiting a cathedral; and in fact, the woods were considered a holy place by the native people. It was horrifying to learn that the woods were almost cut down by the logging industry. I’m so glad they were saved by Muir!

Typically a large exhibit, the over 150 works submitted reflect a wide diversity of mediums, genres and subject matter. This exhibit is not juried; it is intended to be a welcoming and inclusive experience for all the artists.  Invited judges award prizes in three categories: Fine Art, Photography and Craft.  Visitors will have an opportunity to cast a People’s Choice ballot for their favorite piece throughout the duration of the exhibit.

Reception, free and open to the public, Sunday, February 11, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the MAA’s Hooper Mansion, 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead, MA.
