Dark Arts — Salem Arts Assoc.

Salem Arts Association Presents “Dark Arts”, inviting our Salem Art Association members to explore Salem’s history with witchcraft, religion, and Halloween. This exhibit features spooky and fun creations by Salem Arts members. The show runs from the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 (5-8pm) until Sunday, Nov. 4.

My entry into the show is Celtic Cats, ink and pencil, 9″ x 12″ matted and framed. It is done in the colorful, intricate Celtic style and was inspired by my visits to see the Book of Kells. I have always been particularly interested in Celtic art because my father was born in Ireland.

The guest jurors are Charles Lang and Wendy Snow-Lang.

Charles Lang has been a professional illustrator, off and on, for over 30 years. His focus has always been in Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy genres. His resume includes book covers — mass-market paperbacks and limited edition, collectible, hard covers. Comic book covers. Covers and player cards for D&D games.  His main passion has always been Halloween.

Wendy Snow-Lang has been a professional illustrator, off and on, for the same amount of time as Charles. Her focus is closely allied with Charles’s. But she also is a writer and has helmed a writers group for close to 15 years and wrote and illustrated a vampire comic book that was published by 2 different comic book publishers.  She also loves Halloween.

Salem Arts Association Gallery is at 211 Bridge Street, Salem, MA 01970. The shop is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 6:00 p.m.
