The Marblehead Arts Association Summer Members’ Show will take place from June 22 to August 4, 2019. This show does not have a theme, so that each member can choose which work to showcase. My painting in the show was commissioned by Harbor Sweets in Salem for their 2018 Advent Calendar: “Sweet Tidings”, acrylic, 15″ x 15″ framed.
It was a lot of fun to paint this picture. They told me they wanted the cover to have something to do with brownstones, and that I should include lots of cute action throughout the painting; then they set my imagination free. I knew that the calendar would have little doors, from 1-25, all over it with a delicious piece of Harbor Sweets chocolate hiding behind it. So I painted many people having all sorts of Holiday fun and little elves having mischievous adventures.
The reception for the show will take place June 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Marblehead Art Association’s Hooper Mansion, 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead, MA.
