DAA Library Exhibit

The Danvers Art Association is exhibiting the work of local artists at the Peabody Institute of Danvers, aka Danvers Public Library and hosted a packed opening reception on May 16, 2025. I hope you can drop by to see the artwork in all styles, mediums, and subjects.

My painting in the show, Glen Magna Tea House (acrylic on canvas, 9″ x 12″) has an interesting story. I originally painted it en plein air during the autumn! It was a classic, crisp mid-autumn day with bright jewel-tone foliage set off against a lowering sky. One gray, rainy, raw day I looked at my Glen Magna painting and longed for springtime. The beauty of painting is that my longing could turn into my reality. I picked up my brush and painted pink flowers blooming on the autumn trees, and filled the fall-colored gardens with pastel spring blossoms. And for good measure, the gray cloudy sky showed a bigger patch of blue. Take that, Old Man Winter! As a springtime scene, my painting now reminds me of a big, architectural wedding cake! Just right for a springtime exhibit in Danvers.
